Expert of the Month: Avery Reed Mr. Reed’s areas of expertise include Construction Project Management supervising the installation of: concrete slabs, rebar, scaffolding, footings, structures, and block. His Engineering Construction expertise includes: dams, roads, water/wastewater, water reservoirs, utilities, pipelines, site assessment and mitigation (SAM)/ preliminary endangerment assessment (PEA), design, supervision and cleanup of contaminated soil and groundwater, drilling, sampling, chemical analyses, and resource evaluation. He holds a general Engineering Contractor License (266191 - class A), and a Water Well Drilling Contractor License (266191 - class C57). He is Hazardous Substances and Remedial Action Certified (266191 – class HAZ) and is a Registered Site Manager and Environmental Assessor - REA II (20243). Mr. Reed is a graduate of the Colorado School of Mines. |

Expert of the Month: Jeff Coronado
Mr. Coronado is a Registered Civil Engineer and Structural Engineer in California and a Registered Structural Engineer in Nevada. He holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Civil Engineering from the University of Southern California. He is a member of the Structural Engineers Association of Southern California where he serves on the Seismology Committee, the Site Effects Sub-Committee, and the Earthquake Damage Assessment Sub-Committee. His expertise covers issues relating to concrete, steel, and wood structures, static and dynamic seismic analysis, and all kinds of foundations. His analysis capabilities include use of 3-D Structural Analysis software (RISA-3D). |

Expert of the Month: Jim Rowlands Mr. Rowlands is a Registered Civil and Geotechnical Engineer in the State of California with more than thirty years experience. He holds a Bachelor of Science in Engineering from the University of California, Los Angeles. He is a member of the American Society of Civil Engineers, a fellow in the Institute for the Advancement of Engineering, a member of the California Geotechnical Engineers Association, and a member of the Consulting Engineers Association of California. His expertise in geotechnical engineering covers foundations, slope influences, landslides, subsidence, settlement, expansive soils, excavations, and grading/drainage. His general civil engineering expertise covers planning, design, cost estimating, oversight monitoring, and distresses of structures and foundations. Expert of the Month: John Lang Mr. Lang, registered in four different engineering disciplines in California, has more than thirty years experience. He holds a Bachelor of Science Degree in Physics from the City College of New York, and a Master of Science Degree, in Civil Engineering, from the University of California, Berkeley. He has published widely and holds four patents. He is a Diplomat of the American Academy of Environmental Engineers and a member of the American Society of Civil Engineers. His forensic engineering investigations have included those relating to environmental engineering, building distress and code compliance, structural analysis, water and wastewater treatment,< reclamation facilities structural failures, heavy machine failures, fire origin and cause, automotive accidents, safety issues, and construction defects. |

Expert of the Month: Greg Booth Mr. Booth is a Registered Mechanical Engineer in the State of California with more than twenty-five years of experience. He holds a Bachelor of Science Degree in Mechanical Engineering, from California State University, San Jose. One part of his employment history is that Mr. Booth was a Gas Engineer with Pacific Gas and Electric Company, San Francisco where he offered technical support to energy conservation auditors and the company’s customer base, did research regarding energy-saving devices and control systems, and was involved with test system operations for HVAC systems. Additional efforts involved underground gas storage and related piping. At GEI his expertise is involved with investigations relating to issues with HVAC and plumbing systems for commercial, industrial, and institutional facilities, energy-saving systems and devices, cogeneration systems, product liability and code compliance matters. |
