Who Is An Expert?
An individual who, because of training and experience has special knowledge of a specific field of endeavor as defined by a typical state Code of Civil Procedures, is an expert in our complex society. The law recognizes this individual as special, and as being distinguished from the casual witness or observer. He usually has developed very keen powers of observation and deductive reasoning within his own specialty, and may have extensive knowledge of scientific, engineering or "customary trade" procedures for reaching conclusions.
At Garrett Engineers, Inc. these people are, for the most part, senior members of their profession or trades. In some cases they are retired, with years and years of practical experience. They know exactly how to apply all the principles of investigation to the specific problem at hand. Additionally, they are carefully supervised and molded into teams. Most experts are experienced in courtroom situations, having given numerous depositions and having testified in numerous trials.
